tig plates with stainless filler

I was asked to pit together a tig flat plate with stainless 309 filler for display. I also made an outside corner joint with bevel and a 1/8" landing. This was also filled with 309.

Tig welding

So I've moved up to doing test plates for tig. My first one bent with no issues. Here is a shot of the root passes for the second plate. I shot it while waiting for the plate to cool.

Also some shots of 1 1/4" .120 wall ERW tubing that I will be using for a frame build after I'm done the course. I coped and tigged it and then put it in the destructive testing bender to see how it would hold up and it looks great.

Here we are a few months in

Well things have been going nicely and my midterm mark was an 82.

I have now done mig, flux core, stick and tig. I still have more work to do perfecting my tig work but all the others have become almost second nature.
