Back to school, back to school.....

Well this month I started taking the welding program at Mohawk College.

This course runs through until May and should get me my all position SMAW, Flat Mig and Flat Tig tickets as well as my Blueprint reading cert.

Here are the welds from the last week to show my progression.

Another homemade guitar

Just a quick test drive of the LP Junior i built. It was a kit guitar and I had to make some changes for it to even look remotely correct.

It's an all mahogany set neck with a Gretsch style humbucker. I hand cut the pickgaurd because the supplied on was aweful. It also has the correct style knobs and bridge which where not supplied with the kit. The bridge included would not work with the holes drilled for the posts. At it's rear most position it could not be intonated. However using a proper wrap around bridge made everything work correctly.

Here is a quick and dirty clip of it. Ignore the playing I just learned the song that day.

Matching helmet

Since the peanut tank turned out so well, I figured I could make my Fulmer V2 helmet match.

Current state of affairs

Well it seems that all things must change and this includes my bike.

I purchased a vintage springer and before I installed it I noticed that the coffin tank had a pinhole leak. While it was off being fixed i figured I would install the springer with the TS185 21" front wheel.

Once the tank was back I quickly realized that I could not turn the bars. The springer is an inline unit which moved the back legs close to the tank so that I couldn't do anything.

So I kept my eye out for another tank. I also took 1.5" out of the centre of the coffin tank. It is at a friends for welding

I managed to score a vintage Wassel peanut tank. After a lot of masking and painting. Here she is as of now.
